The “World chocolate masters” 2015 championship took place at the “Salon du Chocolat” in Paris between October 28 and October 30th.
The winner of this year’s edition is – for the first time since the competition began in 2005 – a Frenchman: Vincent Vallée.
This contest dedicated to the art of chocolate and organized by “Cacao Barry”, has each year a dedicated theme: like in the years past “Surrealism”, “National Myths”, “Legends”, “Haute Couture”, “Quetzalcoatl” (the Aztec dragon) etc. The 2015 theme was “Inspiration from nature”.
Vincent Vallée, this year’s world chocolate champion, works since 2011 in Anglet, in Pyrenées-Atlantiques department of the southwest France, for the pastry chef Thierry Bamas, himself a “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” (“Best Craftsman of France”) in his specialty and “Frozen Desserts World Champion”!
The Bamas’ main shop in Anglet, “Les Cinq Cantons” is open all week days from 8:30am to 1pm and from 3pm to 8 pm. Its address is Rue Charles Kreamer, 64600 Anglet.
The craftsman has also boutiques in Biarritz and Bayonne.
In Biarritz the shop is open only from Easter to the end of September from Wednesday to Sunday (all week days in July and August) from 10am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm. The address is 20 Place Clemenceau, 64200 Biarritz.
The Bayonne store is open all year round from Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30am to 1pm and from 3pm to 8pm and Sunday from 8:30am to 2pm. The address is 81 rue d’Espagne, 64100 Bayonne.
So when you find yourself in this corner of the world visiting the Biarritz, Anglet, Bayonne urban agglomeration of the French Côte Basque a good idea is to check out at least one of these shops, if not all!
