The Wine Concierge service at Grand Hotel de Bordeaux and Spa – run by a team of 5 concierges 4 of which are “Clef d’Or” holders – is specialized in private wine events and tasting tours of the most famous wine chateaux of the Bordeaux region.
Recently the service introduced 3 new tours called “Wine Journeys” that combine the experience of the wine tasting of the best Bordeaux “crus” with the adventure of flowing the footsteps of some of the most illustrious wine lovers during the history or simply recreating the atmosphere of the roaring twenties.
The first wine tasting tour is titled: “Classic Car Wine Journey”. Guests are driven on to the famous ‘Road of the Châteaux’ in a beautiful vintage car, and choose three châteaux to discover, ranging from a wide range of appellations such as Margaux, St-Julien, St-Estèphe, Pauillac, St-Emilion, Pessac-Léognan and Sauternes.
The second wine tasting tour follows the footsteps of the former US president Thomas Jefferson who visited Bordeaux in 1787 and allows the guest to choose three châteaux to visit amongst the wine estates that Jefferson selected and classified 68 years before the official 1855 classification, including Château Margaux, Haut-Brion and Château Yquem. This tour is called: “Jefferson Wine Journey”.
The third wine tasting tour follows the path taken by another famous wine lover, Ernest Hemingway, who first came to Bordeaux in 1918 and who, the story goes, named his granddaughter Margaux after his favorite wine chateau in Medoc. The tour is called of course: “Ernest Hemingway Wine Journey” and allows the guests the opportunity to visit two of the iconic châteaux Hemingway have frequented in the Margaux appellation region.
