The biggest cultural event of May – at least in terms of its geographical reach – is the 8th edition of “European Museums Night” held on Saturday, 18th of May which sees the exceptional opening until 12:00am and even later (and mostly entrance free) of many museums all over Europe, including numerous museums in the main cities of the south west of France.
The occasion allows the (re)discovery of the museums in, not only literally, a different light and includes in many cases activities organized especially for this event like for example painting shops in Augustin Museum of Toulouse, visit of the collections with musical entertainement in the National Museum of Pau Castle (MUSÉE NATIONAL DU CHÂTEAU DE PAU), musical journey at the Museum of Fine Arts (MUSÉE DES BEAUX-ARTS) of Carcassonne and even an introduction to the transcendental meditation at the Henri Martin Museum of Cahors etc.
