Château Troplong Mondot

Located on a limestone slope just east of the town of St.-Emilion, the 32 hectares property had been earning enthusiastic reviews for almost two decades before it was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé b, the second-highest rank in the Saint Emilion appellation.
The estate that produces around 100,000 bottles of wine a year mainly from the Merlot variety but also with some Cabernet franc and Cabernet sauvignon was in the 18th century the property of the abbot Raymond de Seze who in the 1745 built the its manor. In 1850 Raymond Troplong, at the time the president of the French Senate, bought the domain. The property belongs now to the Valette family.
