Château Lascombes

Grand Cru Classé 1855

Visitor's Rating: (0 out of 4/Number of Votes:0)

Château Lascombes bears the name of its 17th century owner Antoine, chevalier de Lascombes. Antoine himself got the domain from the Durfort de Duras family who owned at the time several chateaux in the region.
In 1855 it was awarded the prestigious ranking of "Second Cru" in the "Grands Crus Classés" classification.
In more recent history, in 1952, the chateau was purchased by Alexis Lichine - a colorful Russian wine writer and entrepreneur who was also the owner of Château Prieuré-Lichine - in partnership with a syndicate of American investors.
Nowadays the chateau is owed by the Insurance Group MACSF.
The domain covers 84 hectares in the Margaux appellation with a grape variety of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot.
The château produces two wines Château Lascombes and Chevalier de Lascombes as a second wine.
