and Happy Halloween and Happy All Saints Day!!!

beaujolais nouveau

"November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows."

In France as in many other Catholic countries the 1st of November - a National Holiday - is the celebration of "All Saints" that honors all saints known and unknown.
The 11th of November is the commemoration of the armistice that ended the First World War and another "jour férié" or National Holiday.
What is not a "jour férié" but nonetheless a national fête is the 3rd Thursday of November - this year November 20th - when French celebrate the arrival of the new wine - Beaujolais Nouveau - the first wine of the year's vintage, drunk after only few weeks of fermentation.
