Each year Saint Bertrand de Comminges - at around 100km South West of Toulouse - hosts between the middle of July and end of August the internationally renowned classical music festival: "Festival du Comminges". The concerts of chamber, sacred, baroque and contemporary music are held in three historic buildings that are among the most prestigious of the central Pyrenees including the Cathedral of Saint Bertrand de Comminges.

The "Cassoulet Festival" is held every year at Castelnaudary (60km south east of Toulouse) - the world capital of the dish! - at the end of August. Lots of animations - including a Cathar procession - around the history and traditions of the cassoulet.

check mark Festival of Flowers - Luchon
Luchon is situated in the southern Pyrenees mountains part of the department of Haute-Garonne some 150km south west of Toulouse.
It hosts the Flowers' Festival each year since 1899.
Animations include: street music and dances, parades, fireworks etc.
Many animations are free.
Dates: August 22nd - 25th 2013.

This astronomical event is celebrated every year in the middle of August in Latrape Observatory some 50km (~30mi) South west of Toulouse.
Dates: the night of 14th of August from 7pm until 8:00 am 15th of August.

"Saveurs et Santeurs" of Fronton - some 30km north of Toulouse in the famous wine region that bears its name - is an event centered on regional wine and food enjoyed on a musical background offered by more or less excentric musical groups.
