Transhumance in Couserans

Transhumance, from the Latin "trans" (above) and "humus" (land, country), is the summer migration of herds (sheep, cattle or horses), to more fertile lands, such as the farmhouses of the Pyrenees.
Every year in June, in Couserans more than 10,000 sheep, 1,000 cattle and hundreds of horses regain a dozen high altitude farmhouses.
The transhumance is accompanied by celebrations like convivial meals, music and dances etc.

Trobada du Canigou

Every year since 1972 Canigou Peak in Pyrénées-Orientales is hosting on the 23rd of June, the Saint Jean celebration with a bonfire that makes the mountain look during the nights of 23rd to 24th like a volcano.
More than 1,000 people from many countries participate each year at this fest that takes place at 2,784 meters altitude.

La Rhune Mountain Train Ride

"Pré de la Fadaise" Festival - The Oldest Festival of France

Riquet Festival

Trinity Sunday Festival
