Carnival of Limoux

Starting in January and ending in April, Limoux's carnival is the longest in the world.
It takes place each weekend during the above mentioned period and animations include: street music and dances, impromptu performances of traditional masks of "Le Pierrot", "Le goudil" and "Le Domino", etc.

Toques et clochers

This year "Toques et clochers"* event takes place on the Saturday before Palm Sunday in Limoux, some 25km (15 mi) southwest of Carcassonne.
The event includes a popular wine festival - dégustations, music on the streets of Limoux - as well as a wine auction on behalf of the 42 villages that bear the Limoux appellation - who use the fonds for the restauration of their historic monuments.
This is a major event in the world of wine. The second largest wine auction in France after the Hospices de Beaune, and a great opportunity that brings together for a weekend winemakers, wine professionals, restaurateurs and customers in an amazing festive atmosphere. "Toques et Clochers" is organized by Sieur d'Arques since 1990.

"Le Grand Tournoi de Chevalerie"

"Vigne et Terroir" Fest

Each begining of August, during one weekend, Limoux - 24km southwest of Carcassonne - hosts the "Vigne et Terroir" ("Vine and Region") festival.
The fest begins on a Friday with the "Nuit de la fricasée" an evening dedicated to the "fricasée", a local gastronomic speciality made from beens.
The weekend features artistic, cultural and gastronomic events.

Medieval Camp at Cabaret Castrum

Cabaret Castrum is situated at the feet of the hills of the Lastours castles, some 20km (12 mi) north west of Carcassonne.
